Benjamin Netanyahu: A Lifetime of Public Service

Early Life and Education

Benjamin Netanyahu, born on October 21, 1949, in Tel Aviv, Israel, has spent his life in the public sphere. The son of Tzila Segal and Benzion Netanyahu, a historian, Netanyahu received a Bachelor's degree in architecture from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Master's degree in business administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Political Career

Netanyahu's political career began in 1988 when he was elected to the Knesset, Israel's parliament. He served in several ministerial positions under Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir before becoming Prime Minister himself in 1996. During his first term, he initiated the Oslo Accords, a series of agreements aimed at resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

After losing the 1999 election, Netanyahu returned to power in 2009 and served until 2021. During his second term, he focused on security issues, including the construction of a security barrier along the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. He also played a role in the creation of a Palestinian state.

Netanyahu returned to office in 2022, following a period of political instability. He remains a key figure in Israeli politics and continues to shape the country's future.
